Ground balls, thrown balls, fly balls and transfers

BASIC GLOVE WORK

Learning the definition of a good hop and a bad hop.
Short hop, in between, and long hop
forehand, backhand, and straight up

REPETITION, INTENSITY, & TOUGHNESS

Once we are familiar with the basic fundamentals we will work to replicate game speed and intensity so players can learn to play fast.

WHILE AT CAMP, YOUR PLAYER WILL RECEIVE INSTRUCTION ON…

______________________________________________________________

      • HOP TO READY – Pre-pitch routine has players ready to attack the ball or their responsibility on every pitch. Making a consistent pre-pitch routine increase a players focus from pitch to pitch instantly.
      • FOOTWORK FOR GROUND BALLS – The most basic and routine play in baseball is the ground ball directly at the infielder. It’s also the least properly taught. The steak and potatoes of infield play is the routine ground ball.

    • FOOTWORK FOR FLY BALLS – Infield or outfield learning how to attack each ball hit your way efficiently comes from training yourself how to use your feet to take you directly to the catch location without wasting steps.
    • FOOTWORK TO THROW – While everyone is boasting about radar gun readings from running throws and arm strength improvement 90% of plays don’t need a top tier arm. they need an accurate arm. Every infielder can have an adequate arm once they learn and use their feet properly. EVERY PLAYER INCLUDING CATCHERS NEED THIS!

    • SLOW ROLLERS – To most the slow roller is not a routine play, but with practice it can become one. We use the slow roller and running defensive plays to teach a sense of urgency and to force players to attack ground balls. Yes, even hard ground balls

      • GLOVE WORK FOR HOPS – Long short, and in between hops will all become routine once players learn how to properly position and defend themselves. Most players don’t get into good defensive positions because of fear. This can be over come with knowledge and repetition.

      • GLOVE WORK TO THROW – How to secure and transfer the ball from the glove to the throwing hand while using your footwork to throw.

      • ATTACK ANGLE – Using the knowledge acquired to get your body in position to make the play regardless of what type ball is hit.

    • FUN – Although this is a lot of learning its baseball and should be fun. If your player does  not find it fun please make certain he does something else. We will have fun, but not at the expense of learning the basic fundamentals and making them advanced.
